Peace Signs Really Represent Why We Do Not Have Peace
Let's talk about individual and collective peace for a second. Peace is a noble pursuit but the efforts to find or have peace in our lives have fallen short for most individuals and mankind as a whole. The fact is we don't have peace on a large scale. So, the obvious question is why.
Well, there are probably millions of reasons, but we think at the core of it is the ego centered world we have created. Unfortunately, the current peace signs (see below) - both the V sign and the icon - provide great examples of the divisive ego centered world we live in.
The irony is that the current peace signs really represent why we DO NOT have peace.
To illustrate the point, the fingers on the traditional peace sign are separated - symbolizing and confirming human division. In addition, the V sign, in certain instances has stood for victory - victory obviously requires that there be a winner and a loser - so, peace at the expense of oth
ers - no bueno. Not to beat a dead horse, but the peace icon also has separate lines converging on a single point - basically emphasizing, once again, that we are divided. The current peace signs depict the state of our ego centered world, but neither peace sign accurately addresses the root cause of why we don't have peace of mind, body, or spirit.
Which brings us to the development of the Create. Love. "piece" sign. The reality is, we don't need to be "brought together" for peace - we already are together - our individual and collective egos just don't allow us to see it that way. Despite that, whether our ego's like it or not, all of us are joined by our spirits. We all come from god, the source, a higher power or whatever you want to call it and are equal. In order to achieve peace, we need to change the context in which we view each other. We need to awaken to the fact that we are all an equal "piece" of god and treat each other that way - turkish, british, indian, american, saudi - christian, jew, muslim, buddist - asian, mexican, persian, - um, no....how about - human - or better yet, how about,
a "piece" of god.
If you looked at another person and acknowledged that they, and you by the way, are an equal "piece" of god, would that change your interaction and your view of what is acceptable behavior? I mean, would we really dis god? I don't think so.
But, sorry to say, we have a long, long way to go. For example, my spell check wants me to capitalize most of the words in the list in the previous sentence - the importance of our divisive labels for each other (religion, sex, country, etc.) has been ingrained into everything, including our software! I know you are wondering, which words didn't the spell check want capitalized? Well, surprise, surprise, spell check does not flag a lower case spelling of human or god as an error.....guess those labels aren't worth much!
The Create. Love. "piece" sign (above) reflects the view that we are one. As you can see, the fingers on our "piece" sign are connected and the center circle in our icon is solid - as they should be. The message being - there will be no peace until we acknowledge that we are all an equal "piece" of god, the creator, the source, the universal intelligence or whatever you want to call it and decide to act that way. Peace requires "piece" folks.
To put this into a nice little package for the sound bite crew -
The old peace signs show us divided by our ego's, which is why we don't have peace.
The new piece signs show us united in our spirits, which is the way to individual and collective peace.
As we all strive to align with our spirits, not our ego's, we hope the Create. Love. piece sign provides a meaningful symbol that can be leveraged in everyday interactions throughout the world. Imagine Secretary of State Hillary Clinton showing up in the Middle East and giving our "piece" of mind kanteens as gifts. The message clearly being, we are one to start fellas, let's not let our ego's or politics or religion or country or sex or anything else divide us.
The challenge for humanity is to first acknowledge our connectedness and then to act accordingly so that our egos do not cause the fingers on the new "piece" sign to separate or for the new "piece" icon to grow branches!
